The tranquility of Bulalaka village, nestled in Sala Parish, Tirinyi sub-county of Kibuku District, eastern Uganda, has been shattered by the horrifying murder of Twaha Namwoyo, 38, and his wife, Nasim Katooko, 27. The discovery of their lifeless bodies, bearing severe wounds and surrounded by blood, has sent shockwaves rippling through the local community.

As residents grapple with the incomprehensible nature of the crime, law enforcement agencies are racing against time to uncover the motives behind this brutal act. A relentless pursuit of the unidentified assailants is underway, as fear and apprehension grip the area.

Samuel Semewo, the North Bukedi Regional Police Spokesperson, voices grave concern over the resurgence of machete attacks in the region, prompting heightened vigilance among law enforcement agencies. Initial reports indicate that the police were alerted to the scene by Charles Namba, a district councilor from Tirinyi Sub County, sparking a meticulous investigation.

At the crime scene, investigators meticulously gather evidence, including a blood-stained axe and two knives, in a bid to reconstruct the events leading to the tragic demise of the couple. Witness testimonies are diligently recorded, and the victims’ bodies are transferred to Mbale Regional Hospital for comprehensive examination by the police surgeon.

Amidst the prevailing atmosphere of fear, calls for bolstered security measures echo throughout the community. Residents plead for increased patrols and intensified community policing efforts to restore a sense of safety and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Peter Mwigo, a concerned resident, reflects the collective anxiety permeating the village as the assailants remain at large, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the community.
