Herbert Assimwe, the young forward dubbed the “Camavinga of Ugandan Football,” took home the September Football Accolade after an outstanding performance in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. Representing Wakiso Giants, Assimwe had a remarkable month, scoring in every game he played. His tally included goals against Mbale Heroes, BrightStars, and Maroons, with the match against Maroons seeing him score a brace.
Assimwe also excelled in the Airtel Masaza Cup, where he added two more goals to his name for Buwekula, further solidifying his position as a top performer. His impressive run of form put him ahead of other standout players like Said Mayanja of KCCA FC and Enock Ssebagala of NEC FC, making Assimwe a clear choice for the award.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Assimwe said, “Everyone wants to be nominated, but it’s not easy. For me, being here is a pleasure. This award is the result of teamwork at Wakiso Giants, and I dedicate it to the family of the Purple Sharks.” His recognition marks a major milestone in his young career, positioning him as one of the most promising footballers in Uganda today.
