Champions of the African Games: Fortebet Real Stars Awards for March

The monthly Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards celebrated the achievements of standout athletes for March, with accolades spanning several sports disciplines.

These sports stars shined at the African Games, where their performances garnered well-deserved praise.

Rugby saw Lydia Namabiro rise as a key player, whose pivotal efforts helped the Lady Rugby Cranes Sevens team to a commendable fourth place in the HSBC Challengers Series in Montevideo. Namabiro’s remarkable play, including four tries, was central to her team’s performance, securing her the award over Norbert Okeny and Peace Lekuru.

In the realm of Football, Hakim Mutebi was honored, surpassing his Hippos teammate Usama Arafat and Catherine Nagadya of the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women). His exceptional performance in Ghana, marked by a decisive goal against Congo, earned him the title of the month’s best footballer, despite the team’s ultimate defeat in the final against Ghana.

The Weightlifting distinction was awarded to Davis Niyoyita, who triumphed at the Games by winning three medals for Uganda. Representing Kakungulu Memorial School Kibuli, Niyoyita’s haul included two silvers and a bronze medal.
