Trump Rejects Third Debate With Harris Ahead of Election

Donald Trump has declared he will not participate in a third debate against Kamala Harris, just weeks before the crucial November 5th presidential election. Trump took to Truth Social, stating there’s no need for another debate, claiming he has already defeated Harris in their previous encounters.

“I’ve already debated Kamala Harris twice—there’s no need for a rematch. When you win, you don’t need to keep fighting. She lost, plain and simple,” Trump said during a rally in Tucson, Arizona.

Trump’s announcement follows their contentious second debate, where he declared himself the victor, despite some polls indicating a tight contest. Kamala Harris, however, is pushing for a third debate, urging Trump to engage in more discussions for the benefit of the American people.

“Debates are part of democracy. We owe it to voters to continue the conversation and show who’s best fit to lead this country,” Harris said at a rally in North Carolina.

Polls following the second debate present a mixed picture. While Trump claims to have won decisively, various post-debate surveys suggest Harris fared better. According to a Fusion Reports poll, Trump has 49% support among likely voters, with Harris closely trailing at 47%. Meanwhile, in the battleground state of Michigan, an Insider Advantage survey shows Trump holding a slim one-point lead, though Harris had previously been ahead.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll taken after the second debate gives Harris a 47% to 42% edge over Trump, with 53% of respondents believing she won the debate, compared to 24% who sided with Trump. Notably, a majority of those polled also said Trump appeared less focused during the debate.

As the election draws near, the candidates remain neck-and-neck in key states. Both campaigns are ramping up efforts, with Harris calling for more engagement, while Trump maintains his strategy of holding rallies and focusing on direct voter outreach.

Meanwhile, the political atmosphere remains tense, with U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland defending the Justice Department against accusations of being weaponized against Republicans. Garland also condemned threats against department staff, highlighting the growing political polarization as the election approaches.

The decision to forgo a third debate could either solidify Trump’s standing or give Harris the opportunity to sway undecided voters in the final weeks before the election. The coming days will reveal how this move plays out in one of the most tightly contested races in recent history.
