Miss Uganda Hannah Karema Tumukunde Represents Nation at 71st Miss World Festival

Reigning Miss Uganda, Hannah Karema Tumukunde, has arrived in New Delhi, India, to represent Uganda at the 71st Miss World Festival. Hannah Karema, who was flagged off on Friday, February 16, at the Sheraton Hotel, has joined other contestants from around the world who will be participating in the international beauty pageant.

Since last Friday, nearly 120 Beauty With a Purpose ambassadors from various countries have been arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport to embark on an extraordinary journey. This marks the second time that the Miss World festival is being held in India, returning to the country after almost three decades. The candidates are currently staying at Ashok Hotel, where they have begun interacting and participating in various activities.

Accompanied by the Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley, the Miss World participants have visited the Raj Ghat, also known as the Gandhi Memorial, to pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence has inspired civil rights leaders worldwide. The candidates also toured the Gandhi Museum. An opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at The Ashok Hotel on Tuesday, February 20. The event will be live-streamed on www.missworld.com.

The 71st Miss World will be crowned on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Singer Shantanu Mukherji, commonly known as Shaan, one of India’s biggest stars, will perform during the Miss World’s final event, alongside this year’s 120 participants.
